Health history & visual acuity
We review your health history, medications, and any changes you have noticed, then measure how clearly you see at distance and up close.
Prescription update
A precise refraction, fine-tuned by your doctor rather than a machine alone, determines your prescription for glasses; contact lens prescriptions follow a separate fitting.
Eye-health screening
Using a slit lamp microscope, we examine the front structures of your eyes.
Dilated retinal exam
When your doctor calls for it, dilating drops let us examine your retina and optic nerve.
Glaucoma testing
We measure your eye pressure and evaluate your optic nerve.
What a comprehensive exam includes.
A comprehensive eye exam for adults at Jackson Davenport starts with a review of your health history and includes, among other tests, a visual acuity check; a refraction to update your prescription for glasses; an eye-health screening of the front of your eyes with a slit lamp microscope; glaucoma testing, including a measurement of your eye pressure; and, when your doctor calls for it, a dilated exam of your retina and optic nerve.

A comprehensive eye exam is $105 without insurance. Most patients with vision insurance pay $0–$30 out of pocket. The plans we accept are listed on our insurance and benefits page.
